Why light therapy for pelvic health?

Currently there are over 4,000 published research papers substantiating the healing power of light therapy for its potential to help a wide variety of health concerns - including female pelvic health conditions. As a safe treatment option, light therapy is used by medical professionals and studied by scientists for its ability to help with tissue rejuvenation, inflammation, pain management, and balancing of the microbiome.

Light Therapy and Vibration for Female Pelvic Health - Blog

Yesterday's Medicine

Our ancestors didn’t have to think too much about the amount of light they got every day, they received the perfect blend of light provided by the sun during the day and around the fire at night.

The concept that “sunlight was medicine” and considered necessary for human health eventually became general knowledge; today referred to as Heliotherapy, or sunlight therapy.

Despite its recent popularity, red light therapy has close to a 100 year history of scientific research and medical uses. However, the sun has been popular with humans for healing for a little bit longer – approximately 300,000 years.

More isn’t better

Light Intensity, sometimes referred to as irradiance, is the amount of light energy your skin receives over a given period of time. Higher intensity of light does not mean better results, if the intensity is too great – the benefits are negated!

While many companies claim to have over 100mW/cm2 of light intensity (too hot!), we have engineered all our red light therapy products to deliver this sun-like light intensity of 20-40mW/cm2 for each session.

At Fringe, we have committed to accurate and honest measurements. We test all of our red light therapy products to verify wavelengths and light intensity and then we publish the data for you to look at.

Top 10 Evidence-Based Uses for Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), may be used to support the health of cells and tissues throughout the body.

Defined as the use of red and/or near infrared (NIR) light to influence biology, most modern PBM devices emit both types of light, which have similar effects but penetrate the body to different depths.

Professional Testimonials

Dr. Heidi Gastler

PT

“I am thrilled to introduce my pelvic health patients to the Fringe Light Therapy Wand. It is thoughtfully designed in every element and is a game changer in the treatment of pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction and menopausal symptoms. My favorite part of the design is the combination of the light therapy with the curved shape that can be used for home pelvic floor muscle relaxation and muscle release. I promise that it is worth every penny.”

Liz Frey

Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

"As a pelvic health physiotherapist I really appreciate the Fringe Pelvic Wand. It has so many applications – from helping with bacterial infections with blue light to helping with menopause symptoms with red and near infra-red light. As well the different levels of vibration address muscular tightness and weakness. It is the best at-home tool to combine with pelvic floor physiotherapy to address pelvic issues. Thanks Fringe for supporting women’s pelvic health!"
